    The role You will be responsible for identifying and analysing critical and emergent health-related policy issues with a particular focus on primary care and interface issues, and developing strategic state-wide responses and policy positions that enable Queensland Health to efficiently and effectively discharge its system manager functions. Key responsibilities: Undertake research, environmental scanning and critical analysis to identify and advise on future strategic policy challenges, opportunities, priorities and issues including intradepartmental and interdepartmental policy priorities. Initiate and manage, in consultation with key stakeholders (Commonwealth and State), the development of strategic policies that address priority health issues, population groups and reforms in the health system. Provide expert advice and support on the development of strategic and State-wide policy and issues for Queensland Health that is consistent with strategic priorities. Lead strategic policy development and implementation activities and provide guidance to staff on projects. The successful person The successful applicant will have a proven track record in managing policy projects and advice. You will have strong writing skills and experience preparing policy materials for a range of audiences. You will have excellent research and critical analysis skills. You will have a demonstrated ability to negotiate with, and influence, stakeholders to achieve high-quality policy outcomes. You will have demonstrated: High-level strategic, conceptual, leadership and analytical skills relevant to a range of social and health priority areas. The ability to manage projects, undertake research, interpret trends and provide detailed critical analysis of reports, discussion papers and other documentation and to provide advice on policies and strategies. Excellent verbal communication skills, including experience confidently and clearly negotiating and presenting complex concepts and advice to internal and external stakeholders. Exceptional and well-honed written communication skills, including ability to autonomously compile complex and high-quality policy-related reports, discussion papers, submissions, and ministerial correspondence.
