Menzies is looking for a First Nations Research Assistant to support meaningful research and engagement activities with the Communicate Study Partnership.

The Role:

The successful candidate for this role will support research and project activities aimed at improving communication between healthcare providers and First Nations peoples.

As part of the Communicate Study Partnership, the Research Assistant will help coordinate activities, support data collection and analysis, and assist in the development and implementation of culturally safe communication strategies. Working closely with senior team members, the role plays a critical part in ensuring research is grounded in First Nations perspectives and contributes to improving hospital experiences and outcomes for First Nations peoples.

About you:

As a motivated and collaborative team member, you will bring a passion for improving healthcare experiences for First Nations peoples and a strong interest in intercultural communication and health research.

You will have experience in communication, public health, social sciences, Indigenous studies or a related field, and demonstrated success engaging respectfully with diverse stakeholders, including First Nations communities and healthcare staff.

You also have:

  • Relevant qualification or experience in public health, communication, anthropology, Indigenous studies or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work respectfully with First Nations communities and health professionals.
  • Experience in research support, data collection, or project coordination, whether through work, community projects, or university.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, taking initiative in delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, and a willingness to learn new systems including research or data management tools.

The benefits:

  • Base Salary $79,589.00 per annum (Total remuneration package including superannuation $ 100,802 per annum).
  • Generous leave provisions including 6 weeks annual leave.
  • Salary packaging up to $15,900 per annum and $2,650 meal and entertainment card tax free.
