The Australian Orthopaedic Association is seeking a Project Coordinator to join their Clinical Studies Team, to oversee the Early Pain Intervention after Knee Replacement (EPIK) clinical research study.
Location is flexible - you can be based in Sydney or Adelaide.
This role concludes at the end of the EPIK research study - on 30 September 2029.The opportunity:
The EPIK Project Coordinatorhas a key role in supporting the administrative activities undertaken by the Clinical Studies Unit, predominantly for the EPIK study.
Working as part of a team under the direction of the Manager, Clinical Studies, the EPIK Clinical Studies Project Coordinator will assist in maintaining positive stakeholder relationships, preparing project documentation and reports and undertaking a variety of tasks in support of project objectives.
This position would suit a team-oriented person with well-developed planning, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
A background/experience in a clinical/research field, particularly with a musculoskeletal focus, is highly desirable.
In particular, the key responsibilities of this role will include:
• Supporting the EPIK Trial committee and the Manager - Clinical Studies, to monitor project deliverables and the schedule of project meetings and plans
• Planning, undertaking and overseeing project related tasks, ensuring they are completed in accordance with agreed standards and timeframes
• Building and sustaining relationships with an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders to support project objectives
• Assisting with the preparation, submission and record keeping of ethics applications across various ethics committees and hospital-approval processes
• Providing support to a range of other small projects, as required.
To be successful in this role, applicants will have:
Degree qualification in a health-related field with extensive relevant experience; or
Experience in musculoskeletal research or clinical research
A professional background in allied health with a musculoskeletal focus (e.g. physiotherapy or nursing)
Experience with grant funded trial/studies coordination, mainly NHMRC and MRFF
Experience in supporting complex projects
An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
Additionally, the appointee will have:
• High-level computing skills over a range of software packages including Office for Windows
• Experience with managing databases
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, with experience in establishing priorities, allocating resources and meeting deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including experience in developing professional documentation and presenting information
• Knowledge of and experience in preparing and submitting ethics and local governance applications
• Highly developed relationship management skills, including the ability to interact with, and gain cooperation from, a variety of stakeholders
• The capacity to take initiative and a willingness to develop and progress to higher level tasks
• Experience in, or knowledge of, the health/hospital system within Australia would be an advantage.

The Clinical Studies Unit utilises the AOANJRR data management infrastructure to conduct multiple clinical studies and research related projects.
