Are you a passionate teacher with the ability to develop strong rapport with students? Do you have the capability to bring an inclusive, adaptable and student-focused approach to teaching? Can you create flexible and engaging learning experiences that ensure every student thrives? An opportunity awaits in the East Kimberley on Gooniyandi Country, around five hours south of Kununurra. This K-10 community school of approximately 55 students, was established after local families chose to keep their children learning close to home, rather than sending them to distant towns. As the K - Year 1 Teacher, you will work in partnership with Aboriginal Education Workers to deliver literacy and numeracy programs through hands-on, practical activities ensuring students connect with education in meaningful and relevant ways. Students begin school with a deep cultural knowledge of their land, identity and language. This knowledge is recognised and embedded in the schools programs. Many students proudly share their culture and language with teachers—a powerful way to build respectful relationships and strengthen ties with the wider community. Kriol is the first language spoken by most students, with Gooniyandi—the local traditional language—playing a vital role in family and community life. You may also hear Walmajarri, Kija, and Jaru, reflecting the strong kinship ties within the region. Families place great importance on children learning and preserving their traditional language. A culturally significant place in the region is Gilligowa, a permanent spring and sacred site. Its Dreaming story has been passed down for generations and continues to be shared with students today—often during visits to swim and connect with Country and culture. The four main priorities for the school include
