Student Engineer

Location: Rockhampton

Remuneration/Benefit: $29p/h - $34p/h depending on year level

About the role: Aurizons Rollingstock Engineering & Maintenance team is currently seeking a Student Engineer to support our Condition Monitoring team in Rockhampton on a 6-month casual basis.

This hands-on role is a fantastic opportunity for an engineering student to gain real-world experience in a large-scale rail operation. Working alongside experienced engineers, youll contribute to projects that support the maintenance and reliability of Aurizons freight fleet.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the Condition Monitoring team in reviewing, analysing, and reporting data from on-train and wayside monitoring systems
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of documentation, procedures, and reports
• Supporting investigations into rollingstock performance and failure events
• Liaising with site-based teams to collect field data and perform basic technical reviews
• Providing general engineering and administrative support as needed

About you: Were looking for a motivated and curious individual who is currently completing a tertiary degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering and has:

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
• A passion for learning and contributing to real-world engineering projects
