At headspace Early Psychosis, Canberra, we’re passionate about early intervention and recovery-focused care for young people aged 12–25 who are experiencing or at Ultra High Risk of psychosis. Backed by the world-renowned Orygen EPPIC framework, we deliver evidence-based, recovery-oriented support that changes lives.

About the Role

As our Community Development Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in building stronger, more supportive communities for young people and their families. You’ll lead, support, and evaluate strategies that:

• Raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental health
• Empower communities to better respond to mental health needs
• Strengthen referral pathways and local networks

This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by shaping how the community understands and responds to youth mental health.

Role Overview

• Promote our service to increase awareness of mental health and available supports
• Coordinate and participate in community events, interagency groups, and partner meetings
• Facilitate information sessions with GPs, schools, local health services, and community organisations
• Develop engaging resources, activities, and events for young people and their families
• Build strong collaborative partnerships to create safer, more connected communities

Selection Criteria:

• Tertiary qualification in health promotion, social work, psychology, community development/engagement or a Cert IV Mental Health
• At least 3 years’ relevant experience
• Strong understanding of mental health promotion and messaging
• Demonstrated ability to deliver community development initiatives and build partnerships
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence

Even better:

• Experience working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, CALD communities, or LGBTQI+ young people
• Strong collaborative relationships with government and non-government organisations)​.
