Primary objective The General Manager RDH provides the leadership and management of Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) and, as a member of the Top End (TE) Regional Health Service, (TERHS) Executive Leadership Team, contributes to the delivery of the requirements outlined in the NTRHS Service Plan with the System Manager. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Leadership and management of RDH, in collaboration with the relevant clinical and non-clinical leaders and managers in the TERHS. 2. Proactively review management systems, processes and standards for RDH and implement changes to consistently improve the service to the community. 3. Partner with key stakeholders to implement effectively deliver on strategic, business and clinical service plans, financial management, people management, risk management, quality and safety, and clinical service delivery. 4. Contribute to the leadership and delivery of the Service Plan for the TERHS, which may include sponsorship of major projects and change initiatives. 5. Provide leadership and direction in workforce planning activities particularly in relation to the appropriate development and management of the RDH workforce 6. Represent the Regional Executive Director in relation to committees, meetings, forums, and working parties 7. Follow defined service quality standards, workplace health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe, services and workplaces. 8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role-modelling behaviour Selection criteria Essential 1. Extensive experience and success in managing hospitals and health services in a comparable context, with a history of delivering on performance-based outcomes. 2. Extensive experience and demonstrated ability as a senior/executive leader in health, with an ability to demonstrate strategic and/or operational outcomes delivered 3. Demonstrated ability and experience in the fiscal management and oversight of budgets and resources amongst competing priorities and without compromising patient care. 4. Demonstrated commitment to quality and safety improvement, research, education and innovation to achieve organisational goals with proven ability to implement strategic change to facilitate workforce effectiveness 5. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary health issues across the health continuum, with a proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with diverse groups within the health sector and wider community. 6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and track record in achieving a high level of patient and client centred focus. 7. An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures, with experience and/or interest in Indigenous health. Desirable 1.
