• The Business Practice Improvement Officer (BPIO) Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is a registered nurse who practices at an advanced level of clinical skill and demonstrates specialised clinical expertise in Emergency Department nursing.
• Permanent Full-time opportunity available
About the role
Provides clinical expertise, guidance, mentoring, education and consultancy to staff and patients within the Emergency Department of Ipswich Hospital. This role ensures the delivery of evidence based best practice Emergency Department knowledge and skills, contemporary clinical leadership practice and management to ensure safe practice and high-quality outcomes.
The BPIO Clinical Nurse Consultant will demonstrate:
- An advanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice;
- An advanced level of decision making in collaboration with the multi- disciplinary team;
- Working collectively to apply the principles of effective clinical governance;
- Professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and midwifery stakeholders through initiation, development and integration of strategies that support a work-based culture which promotes and supports education, research and workforce development.
- The BPIO CNC Leads the Emergency Clinical Coding team providing opportunity to optimise data quality in the Emergency Department for Activity Based Funding (ABF) allocation, clinical analysis, research and technical
- The BPIO CNC provides data analysis to inform service delivery strategies and flow improvement decisions.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated high level of clinical practice and expertise in an Emergency Department nursing within the current legislative and policy context.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and provide independent professional judgement and expertise in problem solving and clinical management within a complex, fast paced clinical environment.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead at a work unit/service area level and/or across professions to ensure effective service delivery and quality outcomes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply quality assurance processes including participation in ongoing professional development opportunities and clinical supervision.
- Proven ability in the application of highly developed interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation and communication skills.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16 (PDF) ( https://www.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/150120/hed-0116.pdf )
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
