APS6/EL1 Senior Officer and Assistant Director (multiple positions)

The Digital and Data Division within the Office of the National Intelligence (ONI) is dynamic and growing. Data is at the core of our work; and we are dedicated to innovation and transformation.

We are seeking to fill multiple roles within the Data Branch, working under the leadership of the Chief Data Officer, these roles sit within the Data Strategy team. The team drives innovation by leveraging data and technology to gain advantage through analysis and collaborative, interoperable community environments. The Data Strategy team collaborates with the NIC to provide coordinated advice on data and AI-related Australian Government policies and frameworks, with a focus on the safe, ethical, and responsible use of AI. The team works in a dynamic environment, engaging with stakeholders across the NIC and with the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Department of Finance, Digital Transformation Agency and Department of Industry, Science and Resources, within the national security and intelligence context.

The Office of National Intelligence (ONI) is seeking skilled and experienced professionals to contribute to ensuring strategic engagement and alignment across the National Intelligence Communitys (NIC) Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data strategic, policy and governance environments. Working in ONIs Data Strategy team is a great opportunity to contribute to the NICs future capability. You will also have the opportunity to strengthen strategic thinking and build new professional networks within the NIC. This position will provide a strong sense of how the NIC works together to support Australias national security objectives and achieve shared outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:

• experience in the development, drafting, and progression of policies;
• an understanding of AI and/or data strategy, policy, governance, standards and frameworks;
• strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• experience in establishing and maintaining effective working and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
• ability to establish priorities, monitor progress, and work to deliver required outcomes within set timeframes.

• EL1 - demonstrated experience in leadership and management
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Relevant industry qualifications
