As the finance expert, you will closely partner closely operations, manufacturing and finance, providing insights and recommendations that will drive the commercial ambitions of the business.   Your deep understanding of business drivers, together with strong commercial acumen, relationship building, financial modelling, influencing and communication skills will enable you to speak up and provide a persistent challenge to senior management, enabling business growth.   KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to an experienced and elite Commercial Finance Manager and working closely with the senior leadership team, your key responsibilities will include:   Cost Management and Analysis
  • Planning, studying and collecting data to determine the cost of relevant inputs such as raw materials, contract costs, labour, direct and indirect overheads and manufacturing processes;
  • Analysing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided to determine effect on cost;
  • Developing and maintaining standard costs of products and service, review of production accounting results and production variances, and reporting of variances in accordance to Company policies and procedures;
  • Analysing actual manufacturing/ service costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production/service costs;
  • Providing analysis on cost of product quality and assessing warranty provision;
  • Supporting new product introduction by providing product/project costing analysis and estimates;
  • Identifying the causes and opportunities for cost savings; and
  • Assisting in various ad hoc analysis requests from the Operations team.
  Inventory Control
  • Identifying slow moving and obsolete inventory and ensuring to ensure that adequate provisions are maintained and inventories are booked at the lower of cost or net realisable value;
  • Ensuring that inventory records are complete and accurate;
  • Monitoring cycle count programs outcome (and conducting physical inventories where required) and reviewing stock take results and adjustments;
  • Maintaining the cost accounting and inventory modules and the relevant cost and inventory controls in the ERP system
  Budget and Monthly Management Reporting
  • Completing month end tasks including preparation of all inventory, warranty, and service related GL reconciliations;
  • Presentations to various working groups including supply chain and procurement;
  • Works closely with the FP&A team in the cost control activities and monitoring of actual performance against budget/forecast;
  • Assisting with half year and year-end reporting requirements and other ad hoc reporting requests; and
  • Supporting external audit and review process.
  Cost Systems, Data and Process Management
  • Maintaining the cost accounting and inventory modules and the relevant cost and inventory controls in the ERP system;
  • Maintaining the integrity of standard costs and price list master data, and product line data in the ERP system; and
  • Maintaining the standard cost accounting policy and ensuring its continuing relevance and currency to the growing requirements of the business.
  SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: You are ideally a qualified accountant (CA/CPA) with at least 2-5 years experience in a finance business partner, cost accountant, management accountant, commercial analyst or similar commercial finance role. Prior experience in product costing or operational costing in a manufacturing environment is preferred as well as knowledge of cost accounting with strong analytical, variance reporting and cost modelling skills.   In addition, you will have:
  • Strong commercial finance acumen with a proven track record of actively driving commercial agendas across the business.
  • Demonstrated financial modelling experience.
  • Highly developed written & verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a wide range of key stakeholders.
  • Pro-active and customer focused mind set.
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Superior stakeholder management, including advanced influencing and negotiation skills.
